These collages are pieces of the products of preschoolers having had a field day or two with liquid watercolors on butcher paper. I couldn't bring myself to part with startlingly beautiful washes of paint upon paint, and allowed the pieces to speak to me and tell me how they wanted to be arranged, and how my pen and markers could bring their stories to life.

LESOTHO SERIES
Lesotho - my home, The Kingdom in the Sky is a hidden gem and a unique African country, with the highest low point above sea level of any nation and completely landlocked by the Republic of South Africa. These are portraits of people photographed by my father's colleague David Ambrose who spent decades documenting the traditional life in the mountains. He gave me a box of slides and asked me to promise to some day make them into painings.I chose watercolors because they capture the otherworldly, ethereal feeling of being in the mountains.
